“It looks the best it’s ever looked” - Bob Little, Owner, The Geneva Suites

Following a call from the team at Boulder Bridge Outdoor Services, we were introduced to Marlena and Scott Hemingway of The Geneva Suites regarding the relighting of an oak on their property. We soon learned the tree — known as The Lighted Oak — had been a centerpiece of the community for decades before going dark.

Relighting the 50-foot oak required careful planning and disciplined execution. Working alongside Boulder Bridge Outdoor Services, our team installed approximately 40,000 commercial-grade lights, thoughtfully distributed across multiple dedicated electrical circuits to ensure the installation was safe, reliable, and built to last.

During the project, we also had the opportunity to meet Bob and Julie Little, who originally started and maintained the Lighted Oak tradition for many years. Hearing Bob say, “It looks the best it’s ever looked,” was one of the most rewarding moments of the entire project.

At FCR, community is one of our core values. While we donate a portion of our profits each year, we were especially grateful for the opportunity to help bring this tree back to life — contributing our time, experience, and effort to something that has meant so much to the Bloomington community over the years.

The Lighted Oak is located just off Highway 77 on Meadowview Road in Bloomington. For those in the area, we invite you to drive by and enjoy the display, and we kindly ask that it be viewed from the street to help respect the privacy of the residents.
